DERMA CLINIC IN ATHENS
The project encompasses a comprehensive refurbishment of an existing dermatology clinic, applying contemporary materials and textures to meet high standards of quality, hygiene, and aesthetics, while preserving traditional furniture elements. The new design incorporates also the firm’s branding identity. The concept suggests the application of a continuous white surface that envelops all existing structures. This new “skin,” akin to the rejuvenated “derma” after dermatological therapy, exudes a glossy and lustrous appearance, while still allowing the distinctive features of the face and body to remain recognizable. The architectural “derma” enhances these characteristics by introducing the notion of the “joint” as an underlying layer, which reveals traits of the former space. This joint serves to connect the past with the present, employing a color scheme reminiscent of the old furniture pieces to be reused, aligning with the brand’s color identity. Additionally, a new carpet, functioning as a secondary horizontal “derma,” unifies the space aesthetically by covering the existing black marble flooring.
